Cussing, Just What the Doctor ordered . . .

Apparently, there is “scientific” data that suggests that cursing, swearing, and cussing are just what the good doctor ordered when you experience pain. Apparently, if you let the 4-letters fly when experiencing moments and events of pain; that these respective 4-letters have the power to heal, note:

Next time you stub your toe, go ahead and let those four-letter words fly. Cursing actually does help dull our perception of pain, a new research suggests. (see full article here)

But what if you don’t cuss? I guess, a non-cusser, who is also a Christian, will have to settle for the next best thing, and just praise the Lord! I know, I’m getting all spiritual on you; but that’s what I am, spiritual! I have found that praising the Lord, and yelling it, when I hurt myself, often provides the relief necessary to move on (although, I often precede the praise with a loud “OUCH!” first πŸ˜‰ ).

Anyway, next time you stub your toe, feel free to cuss away; the science says it’s okay, in fact you should! πŸ˜‰ whatever

  2. Funny!
Now adays “OMG” is just a thang. Old people in church repeat “my god” without a thought. To me the F word when something bad suddenly happens is a mild slur, compared with taking the Lord’s name invain. But lately I’ve come under the conviction that it is all ingratitude, and faithlessness. That’s My conviction. I own it. If does not apply to you, cool!
I think perhaps a well thought out, healthy and God worshipping reaction to sudden pain or loss would be good. For example “Oh Lord, help” and and actually be praying, not just repeating words. Ultimately, if one is so angry with God as to swear at Him (not recommended), own that too. The Lord will at least appreciate the honest communication vs a cold shoulder.

  3. Duane,

I agree. And I’m not saying that I don’t yell, or even often, don’t praise the Lord when I get hurt; but it is something that I’ve been aware of and have tried to do in the past. And since this post will try to do in the present.
