Westminster Theological Seminary, California: Has a New Faculty Blog

Westminster Theological Seminary, California Faculty have a new group blog; this should be interesting, I wonder if I’ll be able to get banned from this blog as well (ref. my situation at the Heidelblog πŸ˜‰ ). Here’s the link:

Valiant For Truth

By the way, I should say for those who don’t know; R. Scott Clark banned me from his blog because he thinks that I am a “lazy provocateur” who only challenged him out of naive and ignorant angst. The reality is, is that Scott Clark can’t really deal with anyone who might challenge some of his guiding premises in regards to his “Federal Calvinism.” To me this approach illustrates the height of Fundamentalist fortress-building that insulates oneself from any kind of critical prodding (even if it is just the blogosphere). I am hoping this new blog of WTSc won’t carry the same ethos as Scott’s; we’ll see. Anyway, go check it out; thus far there is only one post up so far, it is short and sweet by Godfrey.

  1. I’m all over your EC blog today πŸ™‚ this should be interesting…if you recall, Scott Clark also banned me, and told me to shut up. I’ll have to add this to my blogroll…thanks for the info.

  2. I forgot about that. Our friend Steve Scott has also been banned from the Heidelblog in the past. Maybe I should re-name the blog to “Band of Brothers” πŸ˜‰ .

  3. Wow, I totally missed this blog post of yours, Bobby. See what a week of final exams does to one’s blog surfing? Re: Scott Clark. I don’t remember being formally banned as much as skating on thin ice. We had it out over at my puny blog on the subject of baptism after he de-covenanted all Baptist churches on his, leading to my initial comment. I guess his self-attuned search engine fished my rubber boot out of Mariana’s Trench and sparks took flight. If you want to look at it a different way, his decision to permanently turn off comments effectually banned everybody from his blog.

    I have quite a few friends, Facebook and otherwise, who have blog spars with Clark on a regular basis. I just can’t seem to keep from befriending such people unknowingly.

  4. I used to be a hard-core theonomist and Scott Clark and I went back and forth all the time. I remember having a lot of my comments deleted at his blog.

    *While I appreciate a lot of insights the theonomists make, I am no longer a theonomist.

  5. Steve,

    I was officially, banned. I remember reading Scott over at your blog, interesting. But yes, all have effectively been banned as of now πŸ™‚ . Clark is easy to joust with, he asks for it really; which is what makes his personality so good for blogging πŸ˜‰ .

    @LOTG,

    I’m glad to hear you are no longer a theonomist. Yes, Clark is an interesting character. He never did delete any of my comments, but eventually he simply told me to take a hike.
