I am going to slow posts down at this blog, I will be posting new posts here every Saturday; and then maybe, depending on how I’m feeling, one or two, sporadically, throughout the week — but Saturday’s will be my primary posting day here. That said, I am going to be posting regularly on varied topics (mostly having to do with theology and Biblical studies) over at a new blog (my old blogspot) which I’ve entitled:
Unio Cum Christo, which means “Union With Christ” (what else π ). I have too many other theological thoughts fluttering around in my little head (seriously, I have a light-bulb-head π ). Anyway, if you want to stay current with me; then you’ll want to visit me over at: http://growbobby.blogspot.com
And be on the look-out, Saturday is almost here. Does anybody have anything in specific that you would like me to blog on in regards to Evangelical Calvinism, in particular; or in re. to Calvinism, inΒ general? Let me know, or you’ll just get whatever I plan on blogging about, here π . I’m reading a book by David Gibson right now, and he is talking about Barth’s and Calvin’s approaches to Election; so if you don’t speak up, I might just post on that (this Saturday).
See you over at the other blog too . . .
I met David Gibson at Aberdeen. He had already finished his dissertation and was co-pastoring a Church of Scotland parish that I attended for a few months. He’s a great guy, and his dissertation/book sounded really interesting. As I understand it, he favors Calvin’s exegesis as sticking closest to the text, yet he respects Barth as an exegete (not just as a dogmatician working with conceptual categories). So, yeah, you should blog every chapter, since I cannot afford the book!
That’s really cool, Kevin. How old of a guy is Gibson?
By the way, check your email.
Bobby,
That you’ve mentioned it brings a few things to mind. Maybe you could post your musings and amusings about local vs. universal church and visible vs. invisible church, two prominent themes in Calvinism?
He looks to be about 30 years old, give or take.
Kevin,
Thanks, just curious.
Steve,
Thanks, something to ponder; sounds like something I will touch on in the future. I’ll need to do a little more thought on that topic before I post on it though.
