My “Banner”, Barth & Calvin

A quick question. Does my current banner bother you? I mean with the picture of John Calvin and Karl Barth? [if it does, don’t worry, my OCD will take care of it soon πŸ˜‰ ] I am just curious. I often feature pictures of dead theologians whom have had a significant impact upon my own life. But I wonder what you think about featuring these two theological giants; does it bother you in any way? I guess I am wondering, because I know that many Evangelicals don’t really like either of these characters. Many Evangelicals believe that Calvin is the father who spawned that evil heresy known as Calvinism; and they think Barth denigrated Holy Scripture, and just plain think he was a liberal theologian who destroys the faith of honest Christians. Or maybe it might be bother you because it looks like I might be reducing Christianity to two teachers who aren’t Jesus. I don’t know. Like I said, I am just curious.

  1. Would be nice to see a smile on Barth, but otherwise all good – Calvin is far more warm-hearted than his critics give him credit for, and Barth, while wacky, got the main idea that Christianity is about God!
