The Gospel Mix

Something I have noticed; it is an absolutely tragedy when the Gospel of Jesus Christ gets collapsed into particular political systems! I am not intending to get into the whole Anabaptist thingy, but at a more innocent level, merely take notice of the damage that mixing Gospel truth with particular versions of “cultural truth” can have on ordinary folks who might uncritically, then, associate being a Christian with being a Right-wing Conservative Republican. So when a Christian Evangelist attempts to share Christ with said ordinary unbelieving person (OUP); the hurdle becomes not only proclaiming Christ, but also disabusingΒ  OUP of the notion that if they give their life to Christ that they don’t also, then, need to give themselves to the Right-wing Conservative Republican party or something. Yet, I am afraid in America, and as a result of this unholy marriage of associating Gospel with one strata of culture, that this is exactly one of the problems of perception (and even reality at some levels) that the Christian Evangelist must somewhat overcome in their proclamation work. Thankfully the Gospel is never really bound, but by Christ!

  1. Take heart Bro. I’ve seen the power of God unto salvation even prick the hearts of liberal democrats πŸ˜‰

  2. Hey Kc,

Me too πŸ˜‰ . . . great to hear from you! Of course it’s not just Republicans, is it? πŸ˜‰ And that’s the problem, no matter what side this falls on in America, it’s a problem! The “Christian Right” just seem to be the most prominent of this occurrence.
