Can I say something π ? You know what kind of people I highly value? The kind who have passion for who they believe in; the kind who are not afraid to say what they believe in, inΒ these PoMo times (Postmodern or Politically Correct); the kind who understand the times that we live in, and realize that these are urgent times which require urgent measures; the kind who realize that the Gospel is not for the faint-of-heart, but for the broken-hearted; the kind who act instead of sitting idly by and watch the “world” walk right past them; the kind who move with intention and as if they have someOne directing them or commissioning them unto good works, the kind of works that bear witness to their Leader! I appreciate these kinds of people because they are my brothers and sisters in Christ; they realize that we only have today, and all we can say is “if the Lord wills, tomorrow!!”
I just don’t sense that we have much time, as if “today is the day of salvation!” Do you ever get that fire in your belly, you know, like you’re trying to hold something in but you just can’t (like our brother Jeremiah)? I just felt like sharing this, because we need to spur eachother on unto love and good works as we see the day approaching. You know what cancer made me realize? It made me realize that we don’t have much time!! I am a mere 36 yrs, for all appearances healthier than an ox, of sound mind and body; at least about a year ago that’s what I thought, then I was told that I had a cancer that 15% to 20% only survive. Now, praise the Lord I’ve been declared cancer-free; but for how long? I don’t know.Β It’s this kind of reality we all face; we’re only immortal until the Lord decides that we’re not and then He takes us. So while there is opportunity we need to do good! I am just trying to say that I value compatriots who realize this, and bring others along, who might not!
We’re in a battle, don’t you know? Someone centuries ago rightly called us the church militant . . . now let’s act like it!!!
Amen to that.
Thought I’d mention I just posted <a href="http://the48files.blogspot.com/2010/12/thomas-f-torrance-mp3s.html"these gleanings, not all of which you may be aware of. Scottish Theology ones may be particularly interesting to you.
Sorry I messed that up. They are here.
Amen! Have you read “Why Revival Tarries” by Leonard Ravenhill? He talked much like this post of yours.
No, I’ll have to do that one day; of course I have 500 other books I need to read first π . . . thanks for the heads up!
@Dave,
Thanks, I’ll head over to your blog then; thanks!
