Here’s the kind of attitude one encounters when trying to engage folks of the MacArthur style. If there is any disagreement with, for example John MacArthur (or the Pyromaniacs), a person is considered immediately 
condescending and arrogant. I really don’t know why I let this kind of stuff get under my skin so much, but I think it’s the naivete that’s associated with it; and then the attendant arrogance that isΒ associatedΒ with that asΒ illustrated by Vicki’s comment. It actually makes me sad that folks are so committed to MacArthur that in fact he has become a ‘Pope’ for some; which is ironic given some of what Vicki says in her comment (about history and Rome). I still have a heart to reach those who are stuck in MacArthuritism, I have personal experience with those who have been damaged quite badly by their “submission” to MacArthur’s ministry and attitude. I think Vicki is a perfect example of someone who is blindly following MacArthur, and crew, hopefully she’ll come out of this state and experience the freedom available in thinking “Christianly” for herself. If MacArthur says it, that settles it, I guess π .
Hum–somehow the name Bobby just doesn’t seem to fit with this kind of arrogance and condensation.
My understanding of the doctrine of election is not at all sinful–John MacArthur told me so.
Trusting too much to history and too little to the teaching of scripture would have left us in Rome–John MacArthur told me so.
There is a price a godly man must pay to be heard, that price is humility and respect.
If a man wants an audience to listen to his doctrine-he would do well to heed the following!

The reason I don’t have Pyromaniacs in my blogroll is largely because of the author of the Pyro post to which you refer. As the old song goes, ‘It’s not what you say but the way that you say it’.

I agree with your assessment of trying to engage MacArthurites. The groupies cling to the rock stars and seldom is there heard from the rock stars a caution against groupyism on their own North American tour.
Similarities exist for the Campingites, Mahanites, Hortonites, MacArthurites, Piperites and Rushdoonyites. With all of these I have had personal experience.
I should add that I was each of these, too.

Glad to make your acquantaince, it sounds like we have similar sentiment with the Pyros. My biggest concern with them is that they have a huge following and influence as a result of their association with MacArthur. It is hard for me to not “lose it” it over there; they operate with such a double-standard, and anyone who challenges them always ends up the same “tard and feathered”.
Thanks for the encouragement, I’m out of the hopsital recovering from my 3rd of many cycles of chemo. Lord willing by this summer (if not sooner) I’ll be cancer free!

Again, it sounds like we have a similar experience, unfortunatley! I just want to challenge folks a bit over at the Pyros; they need someone to hold them accountable, of course that doesn’t get much play over there . . . oh well.

If you are truly interested in holding the Pyrites accountable, I suggest you request a debate with Frank Turk via his debate blog (http://q-and-a-blog.blogspot.com/). Though I doubt he will thank me for pointing you to it, you seem the type he enjoys interacting with.
Don’t be surprised at your reception at Pyro–when a man enters someones house and begins to pelt the owner with tomatoes, he shouldn’t be surprised that the family sides with the owner. I took the time to read up on all of your interactions over there and you have not shown much other than a zealous interest in your own views and how they conflict with their views. They have no obligation to you–it is, after all, their blog.
But such is often the case with those who feel appointed to hold feet to the fire.

I’ve been interacting with the Turkey and crew for quite some time. In fact when I first started blogging 4yrs ago I actually debated Frank at his debate blog . . . although my views have a changed a bit since then.
Actually I’ve tried many tactics with the Pyros, it makes no difference how you approach them; if you disagree with them, you get snubbed. This isn’t just my experience, but many. In fact this just happened to a couple of others who dared to disagree with them on a few recent threads.
The fact is that can’t deal with views that they have no knowledge of so they resort to pooh-poohing and appealing to the people; which is a very disingenuous way to interact. You’re right they have no obligation, but I would just say, that if they are going to set themselves up as “teachers,” then they should be ready to answer questions. And if they don’t know they shouldn’t resort to school-yard antics . . . which is typical. I pretty much no respect for either DJP or Frank, the only one who shows any seriousness or knowledge (for the most part) is Phil. He should’ve kept it just his blog, Frank and Dan have really detracted from the tone over there.
Actually Frank and I were going to do a debate on biblical interpretation and herm. and tradition but he backed out as we interacted via email (he’s a real character, esp. when he thinks nobody is watching i.e. email).
Btw, if they would interact with some of my points that would be nice. You noticed Frank’s tactic of telling me I had to reduce my argument to some sort of syllogism; if I couldn’t I must not have arguement (what, after he just spent a 1000 words in a post to make a short arguement). His typical way of appealing to the people (which is fallacious). It’s just how Frank is.
Btw, I would be surprised you read all my interactions with the Pyros over the last 4 yrs. What’s interesting to me is the “pass” their followers consistently give them . . . which you seem to be doing. Oh well. No thanks.

Is there something wrong with being zealous for one’s views. Again, the Pyros are just as zealous, and they offer their views for public consumption. There is a huge double-standard here. If you want to see how I typically interact with commenters on my own site then just read some of the interactions . . . the only reason I come off as I do with the Pyros is that they take a certain tone, immediately (and that’s been since my first comment over there about 4yrs ago).
I usually take a break, and then try again; I think I’m done though, it’s an absolute waste of time.
